Reaper awoke to the morning sunlight gleaming through the still open window, and the beautiful sound of a family of robins happily chirping outside his room. He began to move to close the window, when he felt a warm furry thing grip his toe.
"Daddy, don't go." Jessy whispered in her sleep.
Reaper gently nudged the demon puppy awake, when she opened her eye, she lite up.
"Daddy, your still here!" She was so excited.
"Of course, baby and I won't leave you again." Reaper told his daughter, and he meant it, if she was to be taken again it would have to be over his dead body.
"Daddy, I'm hungry." Jessy said as a low growl escaped from her stomach.
Reaper could smell the scent of food cooking, and the scent of sizzling bacon was too much for even the demon dog to resist. Jessy flew up and landed on her father's head as he walked out the wooden door to a hallway that was already flooded with creatures. The sight of the creatures streaming down made Jessy cringe, and sink farther down her father's neck.
When they entered the large cafeteria, there was a place set, well two places actually. One large plate piled high will all manner of breakfast meats, and a small plate that contained breakfast meats and two cherry pop tarts. Both places had dishes next to them filled with orange juice, and next to the dishes were small name tags, one for Reaper's seat and one for Jessy's. The duo had to walk past many creatures on the way to their food, each of which had to remark on how cute Jessy was, only one in particular did Reaper feel nervous about. She was a porcupine-like creature, like the others she remarked on how adorable Jessy was and she seemed kind, but there was something about her, maybe her quills that made him uncomfortable.
Reaper and Jessy sat at their place, and ate their food, Jessy in particular was excited over her pop tarts. When the crowds began to dwindle, and the food faded from their plates they were approached by a corgi on two legs.
"You there, quadruped. Are you the Demon dog Reaper?" The corgi demanded.
"I am, is this about the bill?" Reaper inquired, a bit confused at the corgi's disgusted look as he placed his paws on the floor.
"You could say that...ugh, just take this damn letter before I make myself sick over thinking about how you eat and walk on those paws, disgusting." The corgi handed Reaper a sealed red envelope, and stormed off.
The letter inside read:
Dear Reaper,
You've done well to make it to round two, are you enjoying the gift I've given you? I know you wish to rest, but that is not best. No, there is more to come, more that I need done. Remain in the cafeteria, and your opponent will be clear.
Sincerly, The Thief
ps. In order to progress, you must pass a test. To advance you must regress. Steal something from your opponent, I care not what it is. A life, a limb, the choice is yours. Have fun. :3
"Daddy, what does that letter say?" Jessy questioned, puzzled over her father's serious expression.
"It's nothing you need to worry about, baby. Now finish your meal, so they can clean up."
"Yes daddy."
I like the interaction between Reaper and Jessy. cute
Pfff, that corgi chef. Always so polite xD
